This time, I’m trying to look back about academic conference representing Performance Team.
Our team consists of five juniors and two sophomores, and this was the first time of the academic conference for all. So, there were a lot of hardships.
We couldn’t make good progress with the work and felt anxious.
However, our team could complete a work of performance art 20 minutes before the deadline.
We were worried when we’re performing ourselves, but after watching the video of our performance, we were relieved that it was so cool. I think this work was unique to team that could not be made alone.
(If you haven’t seen it yet, please take a look!)
I don’t know the result yet, but it was a new challenge for everyone on the team and it was a very valuable experience.
Hello. Today’s writer is Natsu Suzuki. These days, it is cold outside, so please take care of yourself… Today, we had a seminar on line. At first, we watched the work other team made, then we shared our impressions. In the last, we talked about “work in the group” and “the work for each person”, then brushed up.
It’s almost up to the academic conference. This time I write about the preparation and going to the exhibition to see reference works.
This year, we have to submit the work, document and presentation video, so there are so many things to do now. We work on not only works but also the presentation.
Performance team will refer to Yoko Ono’s work, so we went to the exhibition, “DOUBLE FANTASY – John & Yoko” in the last Saturday.
Ono is one of the representative artist of conceptual art. I knew that she was John Lennon’s wife, but their ties and works were beyond my imagination. I was very impressed.
Like Ono and Lennon, we’ll try to make good works together.
It’s getting colder outside and we can feel the mood of autumn. I love it so match though.
This week, we have discussed how and where to make our works for the Academic conference which is going to be held in December. In fact, we have three groups; each of those have different ideas, and talked its details in more specific way than last week.
1 An hommage of "Cut piece" by Ono Yoko. 2 A film which captures a normal daily life. 3 A work made with miro system.
In addition, we are planning to start to have a class in off line from Nov. I have never seen some of the mates, because this year all classes are held on line. I’m looking forward to see everyone in real way.
I’m Hazuki Yamamoto in the 4th grade. Today I’ll write about the class and going to Yokohama to see some exhibitions.
In the class, we talked about arts for the academic conference. This year there are many plans, so we’re going to work in teams and do all ones.
Almost members of seminar decided to join the teams and make the art, and talked about what they do concretely.
To make good ones for the conference, we went to Yokohama and saw 3 exhibitions.
First, we could see so many works in Yokohama Triennale. Some works treated social problems, so sometimes we considered them clearly.
Second, we saw the exhibition of Tadashi Kawamata. He is a famous artist, who worked in Yokohama Triennale as a director. His big arts were in station and the city. They made us think about installation.
Finally, we went to Koganecho. In this city, people plan community with art. So, “Koganecho Bazaar” was so interesting for us as students of Inagaki seminar.
We walked a lot and discovered many hints. Academic conference is very hard, so we’ll do our best.
Hi! I’m Ayu Hara in the 3rd grade at Hosei University.
These days, it becomes cold suddenly in Japan! I always study with my cold hands and legs. Take good care of yourself!
Anyway, in this lesson, we thought about themes and ideas of the academic conference. We separated 4 groups and discussed what we want to make. Then we presented each ideas, which of all were very unique and interested! Everyone seemed to be affected by the new lifestyle like masks and social distance.
Some of us participate in an art festival in Yokohama this weekend, so we must come to more excellent ideas next week!
Thank you for reading and good bye till next week!
Hi,I’m Akane Maeda in 3rd year. This was the first time of seminar activity in fall term. This term the second graders of five people entered this seminar. This made me feel nervous because I’m no longer a youngest student. We talked about association and MMM.
Unlike the first term, there are two big projects. Let’s work hard together. And I’m hoping we have more opportunity to visit to museums.
Moreover, we decided to new [back] seminar head and vice-seminar head out of 3rd year students. Ms.Hara and Mr.Ueda were chosen. I am highly expecting of them.
Today, we went to the exhibition of our individual projects at Sumiredou.
Sumiredou , which was a stationary shop, is now a space that Dr Inagaki uses as his atelier.
This time, due to the widespread of coronavirus, we’ve come to have the exhibition at the gallery instead of the media lounge in the campus of Hosei University.
Though it must have been a tough time for the new members of our seminar, they have positively engaged in their individual projects. It wasn’t easy for me, even as a senior student, to keep my motivation.
We went to the gallery to set up the place for our exhibition. It was an amazing experience to see our own works exhibited in such place.
Even though we’ve struggled a lot with this unusual circumstance, I am pleased to see the result of what we have completed through the projects.
