Hi! I’m Ayu Hara in the 3rd grade at Hosei University.
These days, it becomes cold suddenly in Japan! I always study with my cold hands and legs. Take good care of yourself!
Anyway, in this lesson, we thought about themes and ideas of the academic conference. We separated 4 groups and discussed what we want to make. Then we presented each ideas, which of all were very unique and interested! Everyone seemed to be affected by the new lifestyle like masks and social distance.
Some of us participate in an art festival in Yokohama this weekend, so we must come to more excellent ideas next week!
Thank you for reading and good bye till next week!
Hi,I’m Akane Maeda in 3rd year. This was the first time of seminar activity in fall term. This term the second graders of five people entered this seminar. This made me feel nervous because I’m no longer a youngest student. We talked about association and MMM.
Unlike the first term, there are two big projects. Let’s work hard together. And I’m hoping we have more opportunity to visit to museums.
Moreover, we decided to new [back] seminar head and vice-seminar head out of 3rd year students. Ms.Hara and Mr.Ueda were chosen. I am highly expecting of them.
Today, we went to the exhibition of our individual projects at Sumiredou.
Sumiredou , which was a stationary shop, is now a space that Dr Inagaki uses as his atelier.
This time, due to the widespread of coronavirus, we’ve come to have the exhibition at the gallery instead of the media lounge in the campus of Hosei University.
Though it must have been a tough time for the new members of our seminar, they have positively engaged in their individual projects. It wasn’t easy for me, even as a senior student, to keep my motivation.
We went to the gallery to set up the place for our exhibition. It was an amazing experience to see our own works exhibited in such place.
Even though we’ve struggled a lot with this unusual circumstance, I am pleased to see the result of what we have completed through the projects.
In Japan, the rainy season has begun and gloomy weather continues…I bought vinyl umbrella every time when it rains at outside, so I think I’ve to take a folding umbrella for the eco.
Anyway, I would like to tell you about the seminar activities on July 8.
In the first half, we announced the idea of the work to be presented at the Nakanojo Biennale.(Nakanojo is city in Gunma prefecture in Japan)
The work of each team had an impact and it was interesting.
I like the idea of installing a large aquarium in Nakanojo where there is no sea.
We’d like to further refine our ideas and create better works. I’m looking forward to making works in Nakanojo.

In the second half, we announced the poster for the individual research exhibition to be held on July 15th next week. All poster are good.
This spring semester’s private research exhibition will be held at Professor Inagaki’s studio in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture, not at Hosei University. The works full of individuality of the seminar members will be exhibited.
Look forward to next week’s blog, you can read more about the exhibition!
Hello everyone. I’m Hitomi Miwa. I’m in the 3rd grade.
It’s finally July, spring semester is coming to an end. And now, I write about the 10th seminar in the spring semester of 2020.
In the first half, we gave a presentation on the idea for “MMM(Minato Media Museum)”. After that, we received feedback from Prof. Inagaki. The process of working out of the detail for the idea is really interesting, but I also have many reflection points. I realized again the difficulty.
In the second half, each group discussed the plan for “Nakanojo Biennale 2021”. At that time, we learned the points in conducting regional art project while referring to Prof. Inagaki’s past works. It was a great learning.
I’m really looking forward to what kind of announcement will be made next week!
Hello. I’m Mei Tamura. The theme of the 10th seminar was an idea for installation. Our team has installed a smoking area. Recently, the number of shops and restaurants that smoke completely has increased, and it is very painful for smokers. Professor Inagaki said he quit smoking. It’s really amazing.
By the way, The theme was the installation, but I went to see the Pierre Bonassonart exhibition at the Tokyo National Museum and the trembling souls of the Chiharu Shiota exhibition at the Mori Art Museum last summer. Both of them had a great impact by expressing them in a large space. I feel that many of the installation works have an impact.
Hello everyone, my name is Hana Kobayashi. I’m in the 3th grade. I write about the 5th seminar in the spring semester.
Congratulations on the last mid-term presentation of the seminar’s individual research. Taking advantage of the opinions we receive, we will gradually proceed with individual production for the exhibition.
This workshop is “Installation”. Divided into groups of 3 people, thinking about works set in Hosei University, making posters and powerpoints, and making a presentation next time. This time, I thought about what to make with a long 30-minute discussion. It’s a bigger scale than the workshops I’ve had so far, so I’m sure you can use your imagination to create interesting works. I’m looking forward to the announcement next week.
We had a midterm presentation of the individual project.
Each student was given about 7 minutes for the presentation. Also, the time had been set aside for us to exchange questions, impressions and advice with each other at the end of it. everybody’s project is getting on the right track and I am really excited about seeing the finished piece!
It is the time to apply the advice to make our project even better !
Hello everyone, my name is Takahiro Sujaku. I’m in the 6th grade. I am writing about the 6th seminar activity in the spring semester of 2020.
First, we reviewed the last week’s HW, a video art theme of “English verb.”These video arts are unique and exciting, for example, a video about “pick” has a funny storyline.
Then we discussed our works and previous research with three or four people the same as before. The scene that the 4th-grade students kindly taught the last research to the 3rd students was so impressive for me.
After that, Prof. Inagaki commented on our research for each person. I think they were beneficial.
We will express the interim reports on the next week! I‘m looking forward to seeing their research and presentation.
